In light of the current COVID-19 health crisis, many Americans will now find themselves working from, or spending a significant amount of time in their own homes. In a time where life can seem always 'on-the-go', the atypical circumstances have halted the pace of modern life, calling for widespread social distancing. In this unique time, the MARC wants to support our audiences by providing both an outlet and opportunity to capture the thoughts, experiences and stories of so many across the country in 'The Distancing Diary Project'.
The project is a chance to preserve the more ephemeral, personal histories of everyday people, of all ages and backgrounds, from worries to unexpected positives, new ways of entertaining the family to quiet moments of reflection. Once a popular past time providing a therapeutic release, diary writing has, in the 21st century, fallen out of fashion. But it is during testing times like these, that telling stories can often unite us and reconnect us with what it means to be human.
"It is nice that my mom and dad are home more and that I am able to learn and go to school in a new way"
"I'm feeling sort of angry, confused and really overwhelmed at the same time"
We would also like to capture photographs you may have taken during the pandemic. You can sent these to info@themarconline.org
