![]() Sometimes, you have to start from scratch. Each time I struggled to update this website, I became more and more convinced that it was time to wipe the slate clean on www.theMARConline.org and begin again with a more user-friendly platform. Surely, if I couldn't navigate the old website as the administrator, it would have been extremely difficult for you as the user. I have two goals for this new space. First, that it provides all the information you might need to visit us - who we are, where we're located, our hours, admission, upcoming events, etc. Second, that "Blog" page in particular becomes an interactive and educational space, where people can visit to learn about our events, artifacts, and operations. So, here I am in the new year, doing my best to create a website that works for you and the people tasked with updating it. And I need your help as well: would you consider answering the two survey questions at the bottom of the page? Thank you for your patience and suggestions as I populate these pages with all the necessary information, and stay tuned for posts here from myself and the MARC's staff.

Can you tell me what types of documents you have at MARC? I'm looking for information re Lena Meeks, who spent some time at the County Home. According to the Webster's Weekly, she received some money or subsistence for work and then was in need of nursing care there when she was sick. She would've been there aprx. Dec. 13, 1911-April 1912, according to the paper. I did not see her listed among the deaths recorded at the County Home (according to the article by Bob Carter and Michael Perdue). The last census data I have found her in 1900 (misspelled as "Weeks") in Reidsville. Then I find info concerning her and the County Home in the Webster's Weekly. So, what I'm looking for is maybe more documentation from the County Home if there is such documentation. Thank you! Vi Chatmon

Hello Ms. Chatmon, there may be information in the Rockingham County Commissioners minutes. In order to be admitted to the County Home, a petition had to made to the county commissioners who had the authority to grant permission. They are available on microfilm at Rockingham Community College's James Library. The State Archives of North Carolina may also have copies of the minutes available.

Lt. William Mills Nunnally was killed at Gettysburg and I am looking for information about some of his letters to his family. I understand they may have been published and that I might be able to purchase a copy. any information on this would be greatly appreciated.
